Malaysian Association of Paediatric Dentistry
The Malaysian Association of Paediatric Dentistry (MAPD) was established on May 29th 2007 and is a non-governmental and a non-profit making association. We are a professional organisation in Malaysia dedicated to promoting oral health care for children. MAPD also serves as a platform for paediatric dentist to collaborate, share knowledge and enhance their skill in caring for the oral health needs of children, including children with special needs.
MAPD AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
⦁ To further the oral health of children in Malaysia
⦁ To respond promptly and effectively on behalf of the members on matters which concern MAPD or interests of Paediatric Dentistry
⦁ To project and promote MAPD and its objectives within the medical and dental professionals with private health care providers, Ministry of Health and the public
⦁ To safeguard the members welfare and provide support to their needs with relevant authorities

- Promoting Oral Health in Children
MAPD to offer leadership in raising awareness about the importance of oral healthcare in children and promoting excellence in the practice of paediatric dentistry
- Professional Development
The association organises scientific conferences, courses, workshops, Journal club, lunch-hour webinars and awarding travel grants to members in order to provide continuing education opportunities for paediatric dentists and other dental professionals
- Research and Advocacy
MAPD supports research in paediatric dentistry and advocates for policies and practices that improve children’s oral health care
- Collaborations
MAPD collaborates with other national and international dental organisations to share and enhance best practices and advancement in efforts of improving the oral healthcare in children
Activities
Despite being a relatively young association, MAPD has been very active in organising scientific activities.
- Scientific Meetings and Conferences
Only a year after MAPD was established, we accepted the challenge of organising the Paediatric Dentistry Association of Asia (PDAA) Scientific Conference, in Kuala Lumpur.
From then on, we have been hosting and organising scientific conferences as well as courses and workshops.
Looking forward, MAPD will again be hosting the Paediatric Dentistry Association of Asia 2028.

Programme and initiatives aimed at improving access to dental care for undeserved populations, including rural and special needs children
- Publications
Disseminating guidelines and also launched our very own Malaysian Journal of Paediatric Dentistry (MJPD)
Membership
Membership is open to paediatric dentists, dentists, dental students, dental health educators, dental therapists, and dental technicians with a professional interest to enchance and provide better oral health care for children.
Membership will be approved upon submission of application form and payment of prescribed entrance fee and first yearly subscription.
Current number of members as of November 2024: 350 members
2023-2025 Executive committee
The executive committee of the association comprises 11 members namely the President, Vice President, Secretary I, Secretary II, Treasurer I, Treasurer II and 5 executive members. The executive committee holds a 2-year term and is elected by the members during the Annual General Meeting.
